Friends of Northshore Fire

Northshore Fire Protection District is one of the largest fire districts in the State.  Located in Lake County, CA it runs the Hwy 20 corridor from the Mendocino/Lake County Line on the west through 47 miles of highway to the Lake/Colusa County Line on the east.  Serving over 10,000 residents in the communities of Blue Lakes, Bachelor Valley, Witter Springs, Upper Lake, Nice, Lucerne, Glenhaven, Clearlake Oaks, Bartlett Springs, and Spring Valley, the Northshore Fire Protection district is an all-risk agency traversing over 357 square miles of terrain.

The Northshore Fire Protection District currently collects four separate tax rates because when the Northshore Fire District was created in 2006, it simply combined the four agencies (Nice Community Services District; Upper Lake Fire Protection District, Lucerne Recreational and Park District, and the Clearlake Oaks Fire Protection District) that previously existed as separate entities into one but the collection of tax rates was still under each agency.  This is often why many community members believe that they are still separate departments, but that is not the case, all of the area mentioned above in the first paragraph is the all Northshore Fire Protection District area.  Northshore Fire is "One District - One Team".

The Northshore Fire District operates four out of six of its Fire Stations, which are located in Clearlake Oaks, Lucerne, Nice, and Upper Lake.  Currently, Upper Lake is only staffed 8am - 4pm Monday through Friday, while the other three stations have two Northshore Fire personnel on staff 24 hrs a day and 7 days a week. β€‹

The Northshore Fire Protection District is governed by a five-member Board of Directors, elected by the registered voters.  The mission of the Northshore Fire Protection District is to protect lives, the environment, and property by providing prompt, skillful, and cost-effective life protection and life safety services.
